그레머 인 유즈 중급(Grammar in use Intermediate) / Expressions ing 정리

Grammar in use(그래머 인 유즈) Intermediate에서 Unit 61을 공부해보았습니다. Unit 61은 Expressions + ing에 대한 내용입니다. 뒤에 ing form의 동사가 오는 표현에 대해 공부를 하는 시간입니다.

 

Section A

Section A는 일반적으로 Expressions + ing가 사용되는 표현들에 대한 예시를 설명하고 있습니다.

• There's no point in... : 
  • There is no point in working hard if you don't need money.
  • There was no point in waiting in line, so we went another Cafe.
  • What's the point of eating much, if you are already full?
• There is no use / It's no use... :
  • There is nothing I can eat at that restaurant, so there is no use waiting in line.
  • It is no use worring about it.
• It's worth...:
  • It is not worth buying the bag.
  • It is worth seeing that movie, Spider Man no way home.

Section B

Section B는 Have trouble ing, Have difficulty ing, have a problem ing의 구조 대한 예시를 설명하고 있습니다.

• Have trouble doing something :
  • I had no trouble finding a clinic near the station.
  • Did you have any trouble getting to here?
  • People often have a lot of trouble learning second language.
• Have difficulty doing something / Have a problem doing something
  • I had difficulty finding a typo.
  • I had a problem finding a typo.

Section C

• Spend ing / waste ing :
  • He spent hours writing a report for his homework.
  • I waste a lot of time playing games.
• busy ing
  • He was too busy handling a lot of task.

Section D

• Go swimming / go fishing, etc :
  • How often do you go shopping?
  • I like to go swimming.
  • I would like to go sailing.
  • I go jogging every morning.

Exercises

Exercise 61.1은 THere is no point 표현을 써서 문장을 만들어보는 연습니다.

• Why have a tablet PC if you don't use it much?
  • There is no point in having a tablet PC if you don't use it much.
• Don't try to keep your eyes open if you feel tired.
  • There is no point in keeping your eyes open if you feel tired.

Exercise 61.2는 왼쪽 문장을 읽고, 오른쪽 문장을 완성해보는 연습입니다.

• Should we buy a car?
  • No, it is not always necessary. It's not worth buying a car if you never use it.
• I don't really want to go out this Saturday.
  • Well, stay at home. There is no point in going out this Saturday if you don't want to.

Exercise 61.3은 문장을 완성하는 연습입니다.

• I managed to get a certificate, but it was so hard.
  • I had trouble getting a certificate.
• It won't be difficult to find the place.
  • You won't have any problem finding the place.

Exercise 61.4는 문장을 완성하는 연습입니다.

• Every morning I spend about a half an hour jogging.
• There is no use applying for the job. I am not qualified with the job.

Exercise 61.5는 문장을 완성하는 연습입니다.

• It was very hot yesterday, so we went swimming.
• "Where is Mike?" "He went skiing."
